James “Bud” Lundquist, 75, of Battle Lake

James Aldon Lundquist was born on June 4, 1936, in Everts Township of rural Battle Lake, the son of Edwin and Altine (Glende) Lundquist. He was baptized in the First Lutheran Church parsonage on Oct. 26, 1936.
Bud attended Rural School District 45, on the corner of the Lundquist Farm through the seventh grade, and then continued his education at the Battle Lake High School graduating in 1954.
He then served two years in the U.S. Navy participating in security patrols in the Pacific Ocean, visiting various ports including Hawaii, Midway, Okinawa, Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan.
James and Harriet Amundson were married on July 12, 1958, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. After their marriage they lived two years in Fergus Falls before moving to their home in Everts Township.
Bud was employed with The Fergus Falls Daily Journal for 30 years, Battle Lake Standard for three years and then the Balmoral Golf Course for 15 years.
He enjoyed swimming, ski jumping, football, hunting with his children and grandchildren, flying the small airplane which he was part owner and also enjoyed woodworking and fixing small appliances.
Bud enjoyed family trips, traveling to Branson, the East Coast and the Rocky Mountains.
He liked family gatherings, making sure everyone had plenty to eat and especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Bud was an active member of the First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; four sons and their families, Jon (Julie) Lundquist, Tyler and Edwin of Henning, Jeff (Stacy) Lundquist, J.J. and Taylor of Battle Lake, Brian (Cheri) Lundquist, Trevor and Brock of Ankeny, Iowa, and Ron (Leah) Lundquist, Hannah and Josie of Kindred, N.D.; two brothers, Roger (Mary) Lundquist and Eugene Lundquist, all of Battle Lake; one sister, Arlene Lundquist of Battle Lake; a brother-in-law Jim (Ardelle) Amundson of Sauk Rapids; a sister-in-law, Susan (Kinney) Misterek of St. Anthony; and by numerous relatives and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Altine Lundquist; two sisters-in-law, Irene Lundquist and Carolyn Wagtskjold; and by his father- and mother-in-law, Winfred and Edna Amundson.
Memorials preferred to ALS Society of Minnesota.
Visitation: Today from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church, and one hour prior to the service
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Battle Lake

Cemetery: Skibvedt Lutheran Cemetery, Battle Lake, with military honors provided by Battle Lake Veterans organizations.
