Woman injured in DWI rollover

A Dalton woman was hurt in an alleged DWI rollover on Monday, just north of the Otter Tail/Grant county line.

A sheriff’s deputy arrested Brittney Grothe, 23, after receiving a call about a rollover accident on County Highway 37 around 5:45 p.m. Grothe allegedly told deputies she’d been driving north on the road when she reached for a pack of cigarettes, causing her 2005 Chevrolet Malibu to go into the south lane. She then overcorrected and drove onto the shoulder of the north lane before overcorrecting again and going off the road into the west side ditch, where she rolled the vehicle into a pasture, hurting her leg.

Grothe denied medical attention at the scene, so she was taken to jail for DWI. At the jail, however, a deputy examined her injuries and found them to be serious, so she was transported to Lake Region Hospital for treatment. Citations are pending.
