Dalton teen killed in accident

Published 10:59am Monday, October 10, 2011

A 15-year-old Dalton girl died early Sunday morning in a two-car crash that injured seven other people, three critically.

Skylah Oksness died in the broadside collision, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on State Highway 210, just west of Wall Lake.

The state patrol reported that Sasha Parker, 24, of Battle Lake was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Caprice east on 210. However, as Parker approached the intersection with County Highway 33, a northbound 1999 Buick Regal driven by Aimee Magnusson, 18, of Fergus Falls, also drove into the intersection, and the vehicles collided.

Each vehicle had three passengers in it; all of them were injured. Parker was treated for her injuries and released, but Magnusson was listed as in critical condition. Also critically injured were Kaylee Holte, 18, of Fergus Falls (a passenger in Magnusson’s vehicle) and Heath Parker, 31, of Battle Lake (a passenger in Parker’s vehicle). Oksness was in Magnusson’s car.

Casey Love, 27, and Jessie Scheuble, 26, both of Battle Lake, were also in Parker’s car. Both received non-life threatening injuries. So did a 14-year-old girl in Magnusson’s car.

Skylah, you’ll be deeply missed and loved by all of us. Every where you were there was always a bright smile on your face that could change anyones mood and cheer them right up. To Skylah’s family, I am sorry for your loss, your daughter was a good friend to all of us. She always knew how to make something boring really fun. Now she’s up there with god and our other friend we had lost. Her name is Leasha Hoff. Those two were inseperable. But now they are together once again. I sure hope gods up to the challenge of keeping those two under control.

Our prayers are with all the families. Heath Parker is still in a coma in a hospital in Fargo. Please pray for him and his family. This was such an unfortunate accident.
