Co-workers share 25 years of milestones

For 25 years, Linda Knutson and Gary Kamrowski have rolled through life’s punches together, both at work and in their personal lives.

They celebrated the milestone anniversary with balloons and a gag gift. Kamrowski purchased the one gift Knutson had regularly hinted she wanted — a big rock.

Though Knutson expected an actual rock, Kamrowski took the time to shop for a ring with a rock, albeit the most gaudy one he could find.

“I had help picking it out,” he was quick to say.

The two started out working together at First National Bank and are still co-workers after five banks and three location changes. They work at State Bank and Trust.

They have shared all that life has thrown at them as individuals, said Knutson.

“I knew (Gary) before he met his wife, when he had his children; I’ve gone through life with him,” she said. “He’s been with me through confirmations, graduations, weddings and the birth of grandkids. It’s been pretty awesome. We’ve been through life’s milestones, everyone of them.”

They have also been available for the other in the down times — the death of a co-worker and the death of Knutson’s sister and father.

“When you spend this much time with someone, you are friends above everything else,” Knutson said.

Professionally the friendship is reinforced through a common set of values, Kamrowski said.

“I know that she’s going to take great care of the customers,” he said. “That trust is a two-way street.”
