Eugene Anderson, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. He was born June 30, 1932, to LeRoy and Amanda (Lausness) Anderson of Strandquist. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist. He graduated high school and attended the U of M for a short time.

While working at Belmer Thompson Motors in Greenbush, he met and later married Sharlene Faye Erickson on Sept. 1, 1956, in Badger. The couple made their home in Grand Forks, N.D., where Gene worked for several car dealerships. In 1968, Gene purchased and began Gene Anderson Motors in Karlstad.

In 1984 the couple moved to Fergus Falls where Gene was employed by Bob Moore Ford until moving to Minneapolis in 1989.

The couple managed 1225 LaSalle, a 23-story condominium in downtown Minneapolis until Gene semi-retired in 2003.

They moved back to Fergus Falls where Gene worked for Home Ranch Beef for several years.

Gene was an avid woodworker, making furniture, craft and gift items. He was especially proud of the solid oak keepsake chests he created for all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Other hobbies included: fishing and cards with the guys, watching sports on TV, doing gardening and yard work for himself and others, and working crossword puzzles.

Gene loved life, spending time with his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Gene’s smile, sense of humor, warm hugs and caring ways will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding him in death were his parents LeRoy and Amanda; and a sister-in-law, Billie Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Sharlene of Fergus Falls; four children, Kristi (Richard) Fraser of Scottsdale, Ariz., Todd (Dorota) of Bernardsville, N.J., Polly (David) Spilde of Karlstad and Erik (Nicole) of Fergus Falls; five grandchildren, Ian, Jordan and Jacob Boen, Bo Jae Anderson and Jackson Anderson; one great-grandchild, Kael Boen; two brothers, Ardis of St. Louis, Mo., and Jerome (Ann) of Osseo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends.
