Henning school board settles with non-teachers [UPDATED]
Published 9:51am Monday, November 28, 2011 Updated 11:52am Monday, November 28, 2011Henning Public Schools, which received approval of a levy referendum from district residents Nov. 8, approved a two-year salary and benefit increase for non-teachers.
The two-year contract for essential personnel, along with school bus drivers, calls for a one percent wage increase in 2011-12 and another one percent increase for the school year of 2012-13.
The board will receive more details of the school year audit which covers the time frame ending June 30, 2011. The finalized audit had been delayed due to the state shutdown this past summer.
Henning voters on Nov. 8 approved renewing for 10 years an authorization of $408 per pupil which was scheduled to expire. Voters also gave the OK to renew for nine years an authorization of $612 per pupil, also scheduled to expire. This is an aggregate amount of $1,020 per pupil, starting with taxes payable in 2012.
The school board, which canvassed the election, said that 601 voted. District residents in favor of the levy totaled 449, with 152 in opposition.
