Santa to stop in at public library

Published 11:35am Friday, December 9, 2011

‘Tis the season for family, fun, food and reading ‘round the fireplace! The Fergus Falls Public Library has some great holiday events planned for the month of December.

This week we have the Friends of the Library’s third annual Festival of Wreaths silent auction fundraiser going on. The book-themed decorated wreaths are displayed in our

Jean Dahling meeting room. Come in and check-out these beautiful wreaths decorated by area artists and crafters. Bids will be accepted through Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit library programs, resources and services. Thanks to the Friends of the Library for organizing this great annual event.

Also, this week on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00a.m., we invite families to come and meet Santa Claus at the library! Santa will share some of his favorite stories; holiday treats will be served, and Santa will also be available for some wish list sharing.

During the coming weeks, we also have a number of additional holiday-themed events planned. If a child in your life has access to an iPad or Color Nook, you might be wondering what types of ebooks or applications might make great digital holiday gifts.

Come to our Digital Stocking Stuffer Review on Monday, December 12 at 7 p.m. and discover some great books and games children can use with their new favorite gadgets.

Also, If you haven’t been able to take advantage of one of our Gadget Petting Zoos, yet, we have another Zoo coming up on Tuesday, December 13 from 4 to 6 p.m.

At the Zoo, you’ll have a chance to test-run ereaders and tablets and at this newest Zoo offering, we will also have the manager from RadioShack available to demonstrate and talk about some additional gadgets, including the Motorola Zoom and new Nook Tablet, in addition to iPads and the other Nook models.

If you’re looking for holiday craft opportunities, look no further than the library.

On Monday, Dec. 19 from 3:30 to 4 p.m., we invite children ages preschool to fifth grade to come and listen to some super snowman stories and make an adorable snowman ornament out of a spoon. For the teens in your life, we are offering a special teen craft afternoon on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Teens in grades six through 12 can make a fun googly-eyed ornament.

We wish you all the happiest of holiday seasons and hope to see you at the library during the next couple of weeks to participate in one or more of these great events.
