10U girls win 8-5
Published 11:19am Tuesday, December 13, 2011The Fergus Falls 10U Girls Hockey Sponsored by Scots Machine Shop traveled to West Fargo for a 1pm Sunday match-up. Once again, Fergus Falls found themselves playing from behind when they allowed the first goal of the game three minutes into the first period.
Fergus’ aggressive play resulted in two separate power plays as the West Fargo team was called for two penalties. Sophie Rausch was able to deliver on both power plays and also add another goal to tally a first period hat trick.
In the second period, West Fargo battled back and started the period with two goals to gain a 4-3 lead. Sophie Rausch answered with three more goals of her own and Hallie Sheridan gave Fergus their 4th unanswered goal to take a commanding 3-goal lead. Good hard skating and aggressive play by wings Jadyn McKeever, Elizabeth Mattson, Sydney Thacker, and Alexis McGary carried Fergus Falls to victory. Hallie Sheridan tallied one goal, and Sophie Rausch notched 7 goals to lead Fergus to an 8-5 win. Goaltender Isabelle Luhning made 3 saves in the contest.
