Knights lose to 9-0 Thunder

WCA 23 28 – 51

LPGE 35 43 – 78

The Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thuder improved their record to 9-0 with a 78-51 victory over the West Central Area Knights behind Duane Miller’s 26 points and 18 rebounds.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, “Our inability to rebound and giving up too many transition baskets led to the final margin in this game. There were numerous times we had the lead to ten points and would have a good defensive possession only to give up an offensive rebound. Their rebounding on the other end also led to some easy transition points for them. Those baskets are unacceptable to us and will be addressed the next three days in practice.”

“We played much better than the final score indicated. I was happy with some of the things we did against their zone, but like I previously stated we cannot give up fastbreak points and offensive rebounds and expect to win.”

The Thunder outrebounded the Knights 34-16.

Dakotah Kashmark and Matt Wagner led the Knights with 15 and 13 points respectively while Drew Peterson added 9. Peterson led the Knights in every other statistical category with 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals.

Rounding out the Knights scoring was Jeff Martinson 5, Christian Thomasy 4, Nathan Richards 3, and Brady Combs 2.
