WCA 38 24 – 62
Eagle Valley 32 44 – 76
The WCA Knights led 31-20 in the first half and 38-32 at halftime. They were ahead 55-48 at the 7:00 minute mark and the Rebels outscored them 28-7 in the last seven minutes.
Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, “There are two things that we look back to. First is in the past three weeks we have not capitalized on opportunities. We had four possessions where we had fastbreaks or a penetration vs. their zone and a dish for a layup and we either dropped the ball or missed the layup. We make those four plays and we are up 63-48 instead of 55-48. Secondly, we were not always strong with the ball vs their zone midway through the second half which led to some careless turnovers.”
All five of Eagle Valley’s starters had solid games. They were led by Tyler Oftedahl’s 22 points and 10 rebounds; Luke Mock had 18 points including five 3-pointers; Tate Benning scored 15, Logan Riedel 12, and Neil Zimmer 9.
Scoring for the Knights was Dakotah Kashmark with 15, Drew Peterson 12, and Matt Wagner 11. Christian Thomasy added 8, Brady Combs 6, Jeff Martinson 3, Nathan Richards 2, Adam Kaye 2, Robby Bonrud 2, and Andrew Asleson 1.
Thomasy led the Knights with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Peterson led in assists with 4.
