Ugly kitchen

contest deadline

is Feb. 15

Cornerstone Cabinets and Countertops, formerly Cornerstone Countertops, has teamed up with several Fergus Falls businesses to offer a fun “Ugly Kitchen Contest” to area homeowners.

Residents of Fergus Falls and within 30 miles may enter their cracked-linoleum, 1979 cabinetry, or broken, dingy countertops for the chance to be considered the worst.

The ugliest kitchen will win its homeowner a kitchen renovation worth up to $12,500.

Entrants can pick up a form at several local businesses (details below), or

download it at www.cornerstonecounters.com. Photographs must accompany the form and both must be delivered to the Cornerstone showroom at 504 South Concord St. in Fergus Falls (just behind Dairy Queen). The contest ends Feb. 10.

Cornerstone will provide the winning kitchen with new laminate countertops, a new sink and cabinet refacing, a retail value of up to $10,000.

Joining Cornerstone are Cullen’s Home Center, which will provide two new appliances with the purchase of two additional appliances (worth up to $1,500), Seland’s Abbey Flooring Center, which will provide $500 toward a new floor, Dan Fitz Designs, which will provide kitchen design consultation and planning (valued at $400), and The Market, which will provide a gift basket of kitchen accessories worth $150.

“The businesses that have teamed up to offer this contest really represent what Fergus Falls can offer homeowners right here in town,” said Mike Thorson, president and owner of Cornerstone. “You can design, build, renovate, and furnish a terrific-looking, high-quality, contemporary kitchen and buy local

at the same time. This contest is our way to showcase that, and I hope people really get into how much

fun it can be.”

You can follow the contest at www.cornerstonecounters.com, where photos of each kitchen will be posted. After Feb. 10, a panel of Fergus Falls experts will convene to choose the ugliest kitchen in town. The winner will be announced on Feb. 15.
