Teen drifts off at the wheel [UPDATED]

A 16-year-old Perham male complained of mild soreness after falling asleep at the wheel of his pickup truck and hitting a power pole on County Highway 8, east of Perham.

The accident took place around 6:15 p.m. Friday. The eastbound truck went off the north side of the road and traveled about 50 yards in a ditch before hitting the pole, law enforcement reported. The truck received significant damage, but the teen did not require medical attention.
