Alice E. Anderson, 87, of rural Pelican Rapids

Alice Anderson, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Essentia Health in Fargo surrounded by her family.

Alice Hovland was born Jan. 18, 1925, near Rothsay, the daughter of Joseph and Alma (Haga) Hovland. She attended school at District 280 and Pelican Rapids High School.

On June 27 1942, she married Orris Donald Anderson in Rothsay. They lived and farmed in the Pelican Rapids area for many years, where they raised their three children.

She was employed at West Central Turkey Plant and later the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids where she retired after approximately 28 years of employment.

Alice was a very active long-time member of North Immanuel Church where she was very involved in the Ladies Aid, Circle and the Quilting Group until her health failed.

Family was very important to Alice; she especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She also enjoyed sharing coffee and conversation with family and friend while watching the birds at the birdfeeders out the dining room window.

She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan who rarely missed a game on the TV or radio.

Alice is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Orris, rural Pelican Rapids; a son, Arland (Becky), rural Pelican Rapids; daughters, Diane (Dale) Wahlstrom, Plymouth and Dorothy Sorum, Pelican Rapids; grandchildren, Bree Anderson, Brett Anderson, Jessica (Will) Wahlstrom-Maloney, Lindsey Wahlstrom, Joe (Jamie Fox) Sorum, Alex Sorum and Megan Sorum; great-grandchildren, Joe, Hailey, Emiliano, and Isabella Anderson, Saige and Trace Anderson, Ruby Maloney and David Sorum; brother, Ernest (Darlene) Hovland, Pelican Rapids; sister, Ethel Goedert, Detroit Lakes and sister-in-law, Junette Hovland, Willmar.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard and Leroy; sisters, Myrtle, Eunice and Viola; and a son-in-law, David Sorum.

Visitation: Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services in the church.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, at North Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids
