NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
BUFFALO RED RIVER
WATERSHED DISTRICT
ENLARGEMENT AND INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF MANAGERS

In the matter of the joint petition for enlargement and increase in the number of mangers of the Buffalo Red River Watershed District (District) pursuant to Minn. Stat. §§ 103D.261 and 103D.305, and;

Whereas, the subject petition received January 4, 2012 has been served on the Board of Water and Soil Resources (Board) pursuant to Minn. Stat. §§ 103D.261 and 103D.305, and;

Now therefore, the Board hereby issues the following:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing on the petition will be held on Thursday February 23, 2012, beginning at 6:30 PM and adjourning no sooner than 7:30PM, at Hildebrand Hall, Assumption Catholic Church, 307 Front Street N., Barnesville, MN.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on the petition. At the hearing, all interested persons will be given opportunity to submit pertinent information before a decision is made to enlarge the territory and increase the number of managers of the District.

The proposed enlargement encompasses approximately 430 square miles in size and affects Wilkin and Otter Tail Counties that would change the territory of the District.  The petition also proposes that the number of managers be increased to seven (7) from the present number of five (5).

The Board must review the petition for conformance with state law and rule.
