M State Lady Spartans fall 79-54

After winning at home earlier this season, the M State–Fergus Falls women’s basketball team were aiming for a sweep of the Minnesota West team in Worthington on Saturday afternoon. The Bluejays had different thoughts. Minnesota West won 79-54 over M State.

M West’s Alyson Drooger posted a game-high19 points and Bluejay Kayla Schroeder scored all 15 game points from behind the 3-point arc in the victory.

Lady Spartan Rhoda Christenson scored 14 points and teammate Kendra Strokes added 10 points.

In the first half, Minnesota West took a 40-17 advantage with great shooting and strong defense.

The Lady Bluejays went five of 11 from beyond the arc, in the first half. M State went six for 30 in thw first frame.

Morgan Kappahn, who recently was able to play, scored 11 and Taylor Brue scored seven.

M State (11-11 overall in the 2011-12 season, 2-5 in MCAC South play) will face Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday.
