Doris O. Schultz, 86, of Fergus Falls
Published 9:33am Friday, February 10, 2012 Updated 11:34am Friday, February 10, 2012Doris Schultz, formerly of Rothsay, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls.
She was born Feb. 7, 1926, at home in rural Rothsay, the daughter of Dovre and Olga (Wee) Hauger. She attended country school in Trondjhem Township and then lived in Rothsay while attending Rothsay High School, graduating with the class of 1944. She worked at the Lein Café during this time.
On Jan. 17, 1948, she married Donald Schultz in Rothsay. They lived in Rothsay for their entire married life. Doris worked for the Ostlund Grocery and Rothsay Powerhouse for many years.
She was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, where she participated in the circle and ladies aid groups, and the Rothsay Senior Citizens.
Doris enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers, decorating for the holidays, coffee time with friends, playing cards, and bus trips to Hankinson. She found her greatest joy spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Clarice Hovland; and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include her husband, Donald of Fergus Falls; her children, Susan (Lynn) Balken of Fergus Falls, and Dale Schultz of Fargo; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Sara) Schultz, Dustin Schultz, and Drew Schultz, all of Fargo, Darin (Jennifer) Luebke of Fargo, Kristi Jensen of Hudson, Wis., Lauri (Steve) Woodrich of Rockford, Brian Balken of Fergus Falls and Brent Balken of West Fargo; and nine great-grandchildren, Andy, Isaac, and Sophie Schultz, Claire Luebke, Reece Smedstad, Chelsea and Haley Woodrich, and Alex and Sadie Balken.
Visitation: Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m., with a prayer service at 5 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, at New Life Lutheran Church, Rothsay
