Pemberton Law Firm names two new partners [UPDATED]
Published 9:40am Monday, February 13, 2012 Updated 11:41am Monday, February 13, 2012A long-time local and regional law firm, Pemberton, Sorlie, Rufer and Kershner, recently announced the election of two associates, Sam Rufer and Josh Heggem, to partnership status.
“The firm is delighted to welcome these talented lawyers as the newest Pemberton partners,” said Kent Mattson, a member of the firm’s executive committee. “Their promotions reflect their hard work, strong legal skills and ability to distinguish themselves in the courtroom and the community.”
Rufer is an attorney in the firm’s Detroit Lakes office. He has a general practice license, with emphasis on civil litigation, and is a member of the firm’s Civil Litigation, Commercial and Real Estate practice groups.
Having grown up in Fergus Falls, he is the third generation of Rufer attorneys to work at Pemberton. He graduated cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law and received his undergraduate degree from St. John’s University.
Rufer is a qualified civil neutral mediator and arbitrator, and is admitted to practice in Minnesota state and federal courts.
Heggem is an attorney in the firm’s Fergus Falls office. He is a member of the firm’s Civil Litigation, Employment and Labor, and Family Law practice groups. He specializes in workplace investigations, and has experience litigating a wide variety of legal disputes, including personal injury, employment, agricultural and family law.
Heggem graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College. He currently serves as President of the Otter Tail County Bar Association, and is licensed to practice in both Minnesota and North Dakota.
