Sirens to sound in Fergus Friday
Published 11:02am Thursday, February 16, 2012Fergus Falls’ outdoor emergency sirens will be sounded on Friday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. The siren sounding will be a test of the system by the Fergus Falls Police Department and Otter Tail County dispatch.
The sirens are being reprogrammed to be activated by radio, a step toward modernizing the siren system from an out-of-date activation system, Police Captain Steve Adams said.
Friday’s test will make sure that the radio activation works and that all of the sirens sound. The sirens may sound again shortly after 1 p.m. if there were issues with the test the first time.
The eight sirens, typically sounded as a warning of severe weather, are sounded as a routine test the first Wednesday of every month.
