Tennis balls and putters were the equipment of choice for a 9-hole round of golf, organized by Jim and Jeanne Hanson of Long Lake north of Fergus Falls Saturday.
Jim was the “architect” of the course, and with help from neighbors Gary Stadum, Roger Rossum and others, carved out the holes and paths.
About 20 showed up for the winter break.
“We decided we needed to do something to make winter appealing,” said Jim.
Music played and unique flags (some were x-rated) marked the holes and Hawaiian attire was worn by a few of the hearty souls on the ice, though many wore snowsuits. The sun was shining and temperatures were in the 20s.
Prizes were awarded in various categories.
