Brush fire hard to reach to fight [UPDATED]

Underwood firefighters fought a brush fire for two hours north of Phelps Mill Thursday evening. It took firefighters longer to fight the fire because it was in a hard to reach area.

The fire started at 31784 295th St. after someone on the property was doing some illegal burning with a propane torch. The fire spread to some logs and brush, eventually growing as large as two acres.

When firefighters arrived, the fire was obscured by a lot of thick plant life, and they could not even get a pickup truck to the area. They were forced to come in on foot and to fight the fire until a path was cleared for the truck. Once the truck got through, the fire was put out quickly.
