Did you know? Last year The Friends of the Fergus Falls Public Library provided over $13,000 to the library.Wednesday

Funds received from the Friends of the Library help pay for new services like the laptops and iPads the library now checks out for in-library use, as well as popular programs and events such as the library’s annual summer reading program for youth.

The Friends of the Library is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to provide support and encouragement for the Fergus Falls Public Library.

The Friends raise funds through membership dues (which start at just $10 annually) and fundraisers such as the annual used book sale and festival of wreaths silent auction. The Friends of the Library Executive Board meets every fourth Monday of the month at 4 p.m. at the library.

Interested in learning more? Please consider attending the Friends of the Library’s annual meeting on Tuesday, April 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the library’s Jean Dahling meeting room. The program for the evening includes a presentation by local author Esther Peterson who will highlight how libraries have influenced her writing career.

Snacks and refreshments will also be served. For more information about the Friends, you can also check our website www.fergusfalls.lib.mn.us/friends.php or call the library at 739-9387.

Speaking of friends, the library has also asked a few of its friends with gadgets to speak during an eReader and Tablet Panel Discussion on Monday, April 16 at 6 p.m. at the library. The panelists will share how their Kindle, Nook, iPad or Motorola Zoom fits into their lifestyle, as well as what some of their favorite device features are.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public and, whether you’re considering purchasing a device, are a new device owner or are an experienced owner who would like to learn a few new tricks, this panel will offer something for you. Hope to see you there.
