City of Fergus Falls Safe Routes to School Study
The school district is working with the city and other entities to obtain a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant. We need your input to improve safety for walking and biking to school. Please take five minutes to complete a survey by Friday, April 27, that can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FergusFallsSRTS.
If you do not have access to a computer, you can obtain a paper copy in your school’s office. We are asking parents to please complete one survey per school that your child(ren) attend. Your input will be valuable –— whether you currently walk/bike to school or travel by another means.
Your responses will be confidential.
We also encourage you to talk with your child and include their concerns in the survey.
We will also be completing assessments at each school during the morning and afternoon periods on April 18 and 19.
Please contact Gordon Hydukovich at (218) 332-5427 or Gordon.Hydukovich@ci.fergus-falls.mn.us with any questions. We greatly appreciate your help in this process.
Since 2005, MnDOT has awarded $10.8 million in federal funds to communities to support SRTS. The majority of funding — $9.9 million — was awarded for infrastructure projects. The remainder is allocated for non-infrastructure items and activities, such as SRTS planning, education, encouragement and enforcement.
Funding for Safe Routes to School is available in all 50 states. For more information, visit www.mndot.gov/ saferoutes/ or contact Lisa Bender at 651-366-4195 or lisa.bender@state.mn.us.
