Arrows drop two road games
Published 11:13am Monday, April 23, 2012The Ashby Arrows competed in two baseball games last week on the road and ended with a pair of setbacks. On Thursday, Wheaton Herman-Norcross defeated the Arrows 10-1. On Friday, AHS lost 13-3 to Otter Tail Central in Battle Lake.
Friday’s game
The Arrows competed lost to OTC in Battle Lake. Riley Mickelson took the loss for the Arrows pitching 5 1/3 innings. Mickelson struck out three batters, walked eight and gave up 11 runs. Allard LaRue pitched a 1/3 of an inning of relief giving up two runs.
“We did a better job defensively today giving up only one unearned run,” said Blaine Barry, Ashby coach.
The Arrows collected four hits again with Allard LaRue, Mickelson Zach Barry, who all had a RBI in the game, had a hit. Jason Odens also collected a hit.
Thursday’s game
The Arrows traveled to Wheaton and suffered a 10-1 loss at the hands of the W-H-N Warriors.
“We struggled to get anything going offensively and gave up too many unearned runs,” said coach Berry.
Dylan Barry pitched five innings, walking one batter and giving up nine runs, six of which were unearned. Reed Hanson pitched the final inning, giving up the final Warrior run.
The Arrows will be in action again on Monday with a home game against Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.
