Hillcrest wins in five

The Hillcrest Comets girls softball team remains unbeaten. On Tuesday, they won their fourth consecutive game beating the Ortonville Trojans 11-1 in five innings.Owen

HLA pitcher Alyssa Wolderich picked up her 4th win of the season striking out six while giving up just two hits and one run in four innings.

“The Comets played excellent defense from start to finish,” said Hillcrest coach Craig Nersten. “Catcher Emily Pellegrino gunned down a stealing base runner to end the first inning.

“Then to end the game the Comets turned a 6-4-3 double play which began with Gracia Larson, who went to Allison Battillo, and finally to Brittany Christenson.”

The Thorkildsen twins, Katie and Kristie combined for seven of the Comets’ 14 hits and six of their 11 runs. Katie had four hits, four RBIs and scored twice. Kristie Thorkildsen was 3-4 with four runs scored.
