The youthful West Central Area Knights softball team have been a bit overwhelmed by conference opponents this season. While they played their strongest game yet, according toKnights’ coach Bryan Poyzer coach, they still lost 10-2 to Eagle Valley on Friday in Elbow Lake.

“It was the game we have been waiting for,” said Poyzer.

The Knights started out strong with Amber Oberg driving in Lauren McLaughlin and Mikaylah Stark with a first-inning double. Stark would finish the game with three hits. The Rebels would tie the game up in the second with hits by Katie Sparby and Danielle Pratt. Eagle Valley would then add some more runs in the fourth inning.

The Knights would leave the bases load in the fifth and seventh innings and left 11 runners stranded on base for the night. The Rebels would end the game with 10 hits and 10 runs.

“The Rebels are a well coached team and very disciplined at the plate. We just couldn’t get the big hit off Pratt when we had the chance, and we had chances,” said Poyzer.
