West Central freshman star Doranna Blasyck not only pitched seven innings, she also did damage at the plate, knocking in two runs and scored two runs herself as the West Central Area Knights came from behind to beat Long Prairie Grey Eagle by one run in this Prairie conference match up and won 7-6.

Emily Jansen would shut out the Knights through three innings before allowing an RBI double to Knight’s first baseman Amy Benson.

LPGE would pull away in the fourth on Maggie Chapin’s second hit of the game. Chapin would finish the game going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

WCA trailed by four runs going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Ashton Blair drawing a walk followed by a single by Mikaylah Stark.

Amber Oberg would draw another walk leading up to Blasyck’s two-run double. A sac-fly by Benson would score Oberg and allow the tying run to reach third. An error would allow Knight batter Lynette Engler to reach first.

The game would have ended with an LPGE win as Knight catcher Melissa Vikesland struck out, but the LPGE catcher dropped the third strike allowing Vikesland to reach base and allow the tying run to score from third base.

The game ended as eighth-grader Abby Oberg dribbled a ball to third base which was bobbled allowing the winning run, Engler, to score for the Knights.
