Alice Lerfald, 94, of Fergus Falls

Alice Lerfald, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Pioneer Heritage Cottage in Fergus Falls.

Alice Louise (Roskamp) Lerfald was born Feb. 17, 1918, on a farm in Atlanta Township of Becker County. She was the youngest daughter of Harm and Jessie (Vietor) Roskamp.

Alice was baptized and confirmed at the Atlanta Lutheran Church that was next door to the family farm. She attended the neighborhood country school through the eighth grade.

On April 17, 1940, Alice married Franklin Lerfald at Detroit Lakes. The couple lived with Alice’s parents for a year before making their home in Fergus Falls.

Following employment opportunities for Frank they spent a short time living in Tioga, N.D., and then returned to Fergus Falls.

Alice devoted her life to raising her four children and enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren’s lives. She enjoyed cooking and baking, fancy work, reading, music, and gardening.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Franklin; grandsons, John Lerfald and Timothy Lerfald; daughters-in-law, Julie (Mrs. Dennis) Lerfald and Norma (Mrs. Frank) Lerfald; and all of her siblings, Henry, Mary, Walter, John, Jake, and Melvin Roskamp and Grace Willem.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly (Richard) Molter of Fergus Falls; three sons, Frank of Hermiston, Ore., Dennis of Moorhead, and David (Linda) of Underwood; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at PioneerCare Center

Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Friday, at the PioneerCare Chapel, Fergus Falls

Clergy: Chaplain Harry Olson

Burial: 9 a.m. Friday, at 1st Lutheran North Cemetery, Fergus Falls
