WHEATON — The Ashby baseball team’s bats came alive as they were able to pick up two wins and move on in the Section 6A playoffs.
In the first game, the Arrows were able to make quick work of the West Central Knights winning 14-4 in five innings.
Gage Olson led the Arrow hitters with grand slam, a single and four RBI, while teammate Morgan Wing also had two hits and three RBI in the win.
Riley Mickelson took the win in game one, going the distance and fanning eight hitters.
“This was probably Riley’s best pitching performance of the season, he never lost control and kept the WCA batters guessing all day,” Arrows’ Coach Blaine Barry said. “It was a fun game to be a part of.”
Ashby’s offense continued to roll in game two as they defeated top seeded Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 10-7.
The Arrows were able to get a huge jump on the Warriors as they scored nine runs in the first two innings.
Mickelson hit a two run homerun in the game, while teammate Olson also went yard, his second of the day.
Dylan Barry picked up the win for the Arrows on the mound going four and two third innings, while Mickelson finished out the game to earn the save.
The Arrows will take on Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Thursday in Morris at 2 p.m.
