BENSON — West Central’s Matt Wagner will be making his second trip to the state golf tournament after taking third in the Section 5A tourney Thursday.

Wagner shot an 80 on the day, while Ortonville’s Jade Hasslen and Dawson-Boyd’s Ryan Sumner tied for first with 78s.

“We are very proud of Matt making it to state for the second time,” Knights’ Coach Kraig Hunter said. “Matt positioned himself well and other than one hole, did not have any big numbers.”

Wagner will now prepare for the state tournament, which will be held at Pebble Creek in Becker on June 12-13.

Individual Results: (WCA) Matt Wagner 80, Hunter Pfingsten 92, Calvin Anderson 97, Mike Engler 99, Brad Westrom 100, Kent Kjesbo 102.
