West Central Area students to get iPads

Published 1:05pm Friday, June 1, 2012

All West Central Area 7 -12 grade students could have iPads as early as September.

The plan is called the 1:1 Technology Initiative, and the school board gave superintendent Pat Westby the OK to seek bids to finance a four-year lease purchase agreement.

The 1:1 Technology Initiative would reach to the elementary schools as well. Each elementary would receive 30 iPads and a mobile lab.

Westby said he thinks this plan would improve student engagement in the classroom and ultimately help students learn.

If acceptable bids are made and the board moves forward on the 1:1 Technology Initiative, an iPad workbook would be made for students, parents and staff to outline acceptable use and iPad policy.
