Darlene “Sis” Beach, 79, of Fargo, died suddenly on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.

Darlene was born July 19, 1932, on the family farm near Rothsay, to Hazel (Zimmerman) and Einer Hendricksen. She grew up on the farm where she learned to milk cows and gather eggs.

Robert “Bob” Beach caught the eyes of Sis at a Sons of Norway dance in Fergus Falls and after Sis graduated from Fergus Falls High School, they married on June 6, 1950, at the family farm.

Bob and Sis lived and farmed near Ashby for five years and then moved to Fargo. Sis worked for Dakota Clinic as a medical aid in pediatrics from 1966 to 1990. They have been members at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fargo for many years.

Sis loved to crochet and made many beautiful afghans for family and friends and also loved to make beautiful detailed doll outfits that she started working on as a child.

Her many hobbies also included playing bridge, fishing, camping, doing crossword and word find puzzles. Bob and Sis enjoyed their lake cabin on Tamarac in Minnesota for 22 years.

She was a great cook and always kept her son, Lonny’s freezer stocked with goodies.

She also loved peanut M&Ms and her husband kept her well-supplied. We will always remember her great sense of humor, her smile, her contagious laughter and her love for the Lord.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, Fargo; and her two sons, Lonny at Villa Maria and Richard “Rick” at Bethany, both in Fargo. She also had many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Bonnie Lynn and her brother Allen (Joe).

The family requests memorials to the charity of the giver’s choice.
