Sabby found guilty of child molestation, incest in Georgia [UPDATED]
Published 11:28am Thursday, June 14, 2012 Updated 8:09am Friday, June 15, 2012The Elbow Lake man convicted in 2010 for kidnapping and sexually assaulting his stepdaughter in the Fergus Falls area was found guilty this morning of further crimes against his stepdaughter and others while he lived in Villa Rica, Ga. in 2006 and 2007.
A jury found David Randy Sabby, 49, guilty on all counts filed against him: two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation and one count of incest. He is expected to be sentenced sometime in the next few weeks, and his Georgia prison sentence could be far more severe than the up to 12-year term he incurred in Minnesota (in addition to his Otter Tail County conviction, he was found guilty of criminal sexual conduct toward his stepdaughter in Grant County).
In the Georgia case, the prosecution told the jury that Sabby’s stepdaughter had been subjected to sexual contact with him from a very young age. Sabby reportedly would sometimes withhold things from her unless she had sex with him. Another victim also testified that he had sex with her while she was a minor.
Sabby’s most infamous Minnesota crime occurred on the night of March 7, 2009, when he kidnapped his stepdaughter from the parking lot of the WestRidge Mall. He sexually assaulted her in a cabin near Swan Lake before eventually letting her go.
