OTC Legion splits with Pelican Rapids [UPDATED]

The Otter Tail Central Legion baseball team picked up a split with Pelican Rapids Thursday.

OTC started out on a good note winning the first game 10-1.

Jake Trosdahl got the win pitching six innings and recording five strikeouts, while Pelican’s Luke Halbakken took the loss going three innings and allowing seven earned.

“Jake has had some great outings already this year,” OTC Coach Ryan Hendrickson said. “He is fun to watch pitch and has good mix of pitches and looks. He’s tough.”

Weston Malmstrom led the OTC hitters with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

The Post 17 team was able to get the best of OTC in the second game winning 6-4.

OTC jumped out to an early three run lead, but quickly saw it evaporate as Pelican scored five runs in the next three innings.

OTC’s Mary Charest took the loss, but was able to sit down six hitters, while teammate Malmstrom struck out five in relief.

Charest also contributed with his bat recording a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

OTC will host Moorhead in a 5:30 p.m. game Monday.

 

OTC Babe Ruth defeats Dilworth

DILWORTH — The Otter Tail Central Babe Ruth team was able to pick up a six inning win 15-5 Thursday over Dilworth.

The Babe Ruth Bulldogs were led offensively by Micah Rogness, who went 3 for 4 with two RBI, while teammate Carl Colburn finished the day going 2 for 3 with three RBI and a run scored.

Jakob Bradsteen got the win in relief, giving up two runs in 3 and a third innings of work. Justin Masloski earned a two inning save, allowing a two out single in the sixth inning.

 

FF baseball hold awards banquet

The Fergus Falls baseball team held their annual awards banquet Wednesday evening.

Pete Gaustad was awarded the team’s MVP, while Zach Rengel was given the award for ace of the staff. Austin Hanson took home two team awards for offensive player of the year and the Gold Glove award. Drew Reinertson received most dedicated player.

Gaustad, Rengel and Hanson were given All Central Lakes Conference nods, while Brady Hansen received honorable mention.

Abbot Aho, Gaustad and Rengel were named to the Section 8AA all tournament team.

Winning the Scholar Athlete Honor Roll award was Rengel.

 

Huseby, Hanson

all HOL conference

Ryan Huseby and Jed Hanson of the Pelican Rapids Vikings were named to the Heart O’Lakes All-Conference team.

Huseby was also named to the All-Section 8AA tournament team.

The Vikings finished the year 3-14.
