The public is cordially invited to an artist’s reception for John House, winner of the walleye stamp contest, at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Art of the Lakes in Battle Lake.

During the reception House will unveil his award-winning Minnesota 2012 Walleye Stamp for the first time publically.

House is the first and only artist to win all five of the Minnesota DNR fish and wildlife habitat stamp contests, an achievement called the “Minnesota Royal Slam.”

He has won awards for migratory waterfowl (1999); pheasant (2004); trout & salmon (2006); wild turkey (2008); and his latest, walleye habitat in 2012. All five of his framed stamp wins will be on display.

John paints and carves in Evansville and is a member of Art of the Lakes.

At 7 p.m., following the reception House will give a presentation on his work and career.

Come to the reception, meet and greet John, share in the unveiling of the walleye stamp award, and stay to hear his story.
