A fire and two explosions rocked the Sunrise Apartments near Stop-N-Go on North Union and Fir Avenue at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. Residents were evacuated, however, two people were reportedly transported by ambulance to a hospital. There was no word if there were serious injuries. Some residents were treated for smoke inhalation. Apartment residents said everyone got out of the building.

According to resident Amanda Mau, who lives three doors down from the apartment where the fire reportedly began, there was smoke and someone yelled to call 911 and get out of the building.

It was while she and other residents were standing outside that the first of two explosions went off. About five minutes later, a second explosion was heard.

Firefighters from Underwood and Elizabeth assisted the Fergus Falls Fire Department and the Red Cross was on the scene.

See Wednesday’s Daily Journal for more news of the fire.
