The city awarded two bids and prepared to award another. First, the council voted to approve a bid of about $583,000 from Central Specialties (with an additional $195,000 in possible alternates) to conduct airport improvements to a runway and taxiway, pending the award of enough federal dollars to assist in the project. There are currently plans to use Federal Airport Grant funds in the project (which would require a 10 percent funding match by the city).

The council also approved a bid of about $48,000 to open a new demolition cell next to the one that is currently open. It was originally scheduled to open in 2013, but it was moved up to allow the city more room to operate in the existing cell.

Finally, the city approved a bid of about $36,000 to make a bituminous improvement to an alley in the block bounded by First, Second, Cavour and Summit avenues.
