The Fergus Falls man wanted by police last week for a felony domestic assault warrant made his first appearance Friday on the assault charge.

Timothy James Domholt, 27, of Fergus Falls, is being held on $100,000 cash or bond. The assault he is charged with allegedly took place on June 1.

Around 12:15 p.m., Fergus Falls police responded to a domestic assault report on the 700 block of Melody Lane. Upon arriving, they learned that Domholt had allegedly gotten into an argument with a woman while she was in the shower, and he began assaulting her as the argument moved from the bathroom to the bedroom. He allegedly tried to cover the woman’s mouth in order to stop her from screaming, eventually putting her into a headlock and taking her to the floor.

The woman eventually escaped and got another person to call 911 (Domholt allegedly took the woman’s phone). During the assault, she had not been able to get dressed and only was able to do so after police arrived.

Domholt has a number of assault convictions, including one with the same victim in December 2011.
