The city also approved a resolution supporting a more equal distribution of Legacy funding to parks in greater Minnesota. In the past, Parks and Recreation Manager Steve Plaza explained, the parks and trails of the metro area have gotten a greater percentage of funding, with greater Minnesota and the DNR left to pick up the remaining funds (some of which is still competitive with the metro parks). The resolution, which is being circulated by the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Coalition, urges lawmakers to make an even split of the money – one-third each to the metro, Greater Minnesota and the DNR.
