FF Fish & Game to tour Ash Lake, Denton Slough
Published 9:59am Friday, July 6, 2012The FF Fish & Game Club’s July meeting has been postponed one week to July 10.
On this day, we will be taking a road trip to tour the draw down of the water levels on Ash Lake and Denton Slough in Grant County.
Kevin Kotts from the MN Department of Natural Resources will be our guide to explain what took place on both of these wetlands and the positive effects that these draw downs have had. We will leave the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center at 6:30 p.m. and should be back in town by 9 or 9:30 p.m.
Walking will be part of this tour so waterproof boots are encouraged. Carpooling is available, too.
In addition to owning and managing 1,100 acres of land that is open to public use, the FFF&GC supports local youth environment, education and safety programs, habitat and food plot projects, plus other activities aimed at preserving our natural resources. Meetings are scheduled the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in a lower-level classroom at the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center.
If you have questions or an interest in learning more about our club please call Mick Siems at 739-4803 or consider joining us at one of our monthly meetings.
