BISMARCK, N.D. — Fergus Falls and Underwood High School Fury Dance Team attended a tri-state dance camp, where they learned dance routines, how to perfect technique, and engaged in individual skill competition.

175 dancers in total from 23 different schools in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota attended the camp.

Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen, Captain of the Fury Dance Team, won first place in high kick. Fischer-Danzeisen said that she was ecstatic to receive this honor since the quality of dancers was so competitive.

Allysa Klinger, who will be a freshman on this year’s team, placed first in leaps. Klinger was thrilled that she won this award.

“I practiced hard on my leaps so that I could be really good and be competitive in this event,” Klinger said.

Klinger competed against upper class dancers to win this event.

She, along with Fisher-Danzeisen, said that everyone who competed did extremely well so they were especially honored to place first.

The dancers were judged by esteemed professional dancers. Among the judges were professional dancers who performed at the Super Bowl, at Broadway Studio in New York City, and as the opening act for recording artist, Drake. These same judges, as well as others, also served as clinicians for the dance camp.

Coach Tana Ziesmer was extremely proud of Fischer-Danzeisen and Klinger. She went on to say that their success at winning these individual competitions will help build the morale and confidence of the team, and propel them into next year’s season. She said that it was exciting to see them glow.

Captain Fischer-Danzeisen said that she was impressed with how her team improved in such a short period of time. The dance camp was a four-day event. Coach Ziesmer also praised the entire team for winning the most spirited team award.

Should any students from 7-12 grade from Fergus Falls or Underwood schools wish to become part of the dance as a junior varsity or varsity dancer, please contact Coach Ziesmer at otterfurydt@aol.com
