WCA to get iPads [UPDATED]
Published 8:50am Friday, July 6, 2012 Updated 12:54pm Friday, July 6, 2012Students at West Central Area Schools will soon have a new, high-tech way to learn. Beginning this upcoming school year, all 7-12th grade students and staff members will be issued iPads, along with 30 for the 5th and 6th grades and 30 for each elementary school.
This was made possible by a financing package from Runestone Telecom. The district will lease the iPads for four years at zero percent interest for about $56,000. Runestone Telecom will donate $5,000 each year.
School officials hope the iPads will help students become more engaged in learning. The iPads will be used in addition to textbooks and thousands of educational applications are available to integrate learning with new technology.
Parents and students will be offered a iPad training session at the end of the summer, and more information about the new program will be available at that time, the Grant County Herald reported.
