A Park Rapids man was arrested by Fergus Falls police Sunday after a lengthy car chase that led the pursuers and the pursued through Fergus Falls and Dalton.

According to police, shortly before 9 p.m. an officer attempted to pull over a car for speeding on Sheridan Avenue near the intersection with Hampden Avenue.

The driver, later identified as Troy Roger Tschudi, 48, allegedly did not slow down and drove out of town, leading two police cars and a state patrol car on a chase.

Tschudi reportedly drove down Pebble Lake Road and exited onto Interstate Highway 94, driving east on the interstate at speeds exceeding 90 mph. He then exited on County Highway 35 and drove through Dalton around 45 mph before allegedly accelerating to 75 mph after leaving town.

Eventually, the county sheriff’s office was able to place stop sticks on Highway 35 near 180th Street. Tschudi hit the sticks, deflating his tires and quickly stopping the car. He was arrested without incident for fleeing from a peace officer, open bottle, speeding and driving without insurance.

His passenger, Glenn Wayne Giese, 48, of Fergus Falls, was cited for open bottle.
