Published 8:03am Monday, July 16, 2012 Updated 12:05pm Monday, July 16, 2012Get ready, get set, for rodeo action that’ll keep young and old on the edge of their seats as the 8th Annual Red Horse Ranch PRCA Rodeo rolls into Fergus Falls, Aug. 10 and 11.
It’s a chance to dream of being a cowboy or cowgirl. It’s patriotism, competition, athleticism and exhilarating fun that’s sure to provide an evening of terrific family entertainment. The sprawling RHRA grounds, located along the Otter Tail River just north of Fergus Falls, serves as the perfect setting for this outdoor event, earning a reputation as one of the country’s best professional rodeos.
Rodeo action begins at 7 p.m. nightly with gates opening at 5 p.m. The public is encouraged to come early to check out a variety of vendors and enjoy delicious food concessions and beer gardens. The RHRA is pleased to announce that “Sure Shot” will be the featured specialty act of this year’s rodeo, performing both nights.
“Sure Shot” includes the duo of Sally Bishop and Roz Beaton, trick and roman riders extraordinaire. They are two of the most accomplished young ladies in the industry and their extreme speed performance truly defies the laws of gravity. They are a vision of equine artistry and masterfully coordinated trick and roman riding that pay tribute to the western arts.
The crowd-pleasing Wild Cow Ride will be a part of the Friday evening performance and Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night will be a part of the rodeo on Saturday, August 11, with fans and participants decked out in pink to show their support of breast cancer awareness and education. Two dollars from each ticket sold will be donated to the Lake Region Hospital Foundation Cancer Care and Research Center, as well as raffles and other activities presented by the Pink Posse.
And of course, this year’s fans will also be treated to fearless bull riders, burly steer wrestlers, gorgeous barrel racers and soaring bronc riders as the country’s top professional rodeo athletes compete for a chance to ride in the National Finals in Las Vegas. Professional rodeo announcer, Kelly Kenney, will be back in the arena he has come to call “home” to bring it all together.
The prize money is tremendous, the Red Horse Ranch Arena facilities are among the finest in North America and the hospitality is second to none. Everyone is also invited to dance to Silverado each night following the rodeo, included with every ticket.
Tickets for the 2012 PRCA Rodeo are on sale now at RHRA, BJ’s, or at the gate.
