Traffic light felled by a truck

Published 11:18am Wednesday, July 25, 2012

The southwest stoplight at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Court Street was knocked down late Tuesday afternoon when a truck rolled into it, Fergus Falls police reported.

The truck had been parked on the north side of Lincoln Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. and began rolling west due to a problem with the parking brake (whether the brake was not set or if it malfunctioned was not immediately clear). The unoccupied vehicle kept rolling until it hit the stop light, knocking it down but not causing damage to any surrounding buildings.

No one was hurt.

The truck’s owner, Denise Gebeke, 48, of Fergus Falls, was cited for having no insurance or proof of insurance on the vehicle. The truck was impounded.
