UPDATE: Six file for city seats [UPDATED]

Published 11:20am Tuesday, July 31, 2012 Updated 4:04pm Tuesday, July 31, 2012

The first morning of the local election season was a busy one, with four people filing for city office by 10 a.m.

The mayor’s office spot has already seen two filings: Pat Connelly, current Ward Three council member, and Daryl Synstelien, brother of current council members Randy and Stan Synstelien.

In Ward Two, incumbent Jim Fish filed for the spot, along with Robert Reisch.

The other two open city offices are council spots currently held by Eric Shelstad (Ward One), Pat Connelly (Ward Three) and JoEllen Thacker (Ward Four).

The Fergus Falls Public Schools administration could not be reached this morning for information about school board filings.

Filings are open from today through Aug. 14. City offices can be filed for at city hall, and school board positions can be filed for at the FFPS offices.

UPDATE: By the end of the day Monday, Jeffrey McSorley Jr. had filed for mayor, and incumbent Eric Shelstad filed for Ward One.

This is a true sign of how disgusted citizens are with those whotook advntage of the power they only thought was theirs to abuse. Good luck to all challengers, I hope every incumbant is removed. The royal ice palace has left a bitter taste in most mouthes. I shall leave the other reasons for others to comment. Good luck to those who have a voice of reason.

Time to wake up people. Now is your time to make a change and we do not need another “brother” on the council. Wouldn’t that almost be a quorum. Definitely stacks the deck against any transparency, not that there is any now. Time to clean house, and get things opened up to the people that they are there to represent, and not the City administers bidding.
