BL residents to vote on natural gas line Aug. 14

At a primary election on Aug. 14, Battle Lake residents will be asked whether or not the city should establish a natural gas utility for the area.

A 5/8ths vote will be required to move ahead with the project. The idea of establishing a natural gas utility was brought to the City Council by residents and business owners who wanted to explore the possibility of using the clean, efficient resource.

Several neighboring communities are are already using natural gas including Perham, Henning and New York Mills.

There is a public information meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Battle Lake City Hall.
