A 5/8ths vote will be required to move ahead with the project. The idea of establishing a natural gas utility was brought to the City Council by residents and business owners who wanted to explore the possibility of using the clean, efficient resource.

Several neighboring communities are are already using natural gas including Perham, Henning and New York Mills.

There is a public information meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Battle Lake City Hall.
