Passed ball gives OTC win

Published 3:06pm Saturday, August 4, 2012

The Otter Tail Central Babe Ruth team was able to upset host Fergus Falls in a 10-9 victory Friday at American Legion Field in the Babe Ruth state tournament.

OTC was able to pick up the win after a Evan Malmstrom and Nick Trosdahl base hits put runners at first and second.

Fergus made two mistakes in the final inning as a passed ball moved both runners and a passed ball on an intentional walk saw Malmstrom charge home for the win.

Carl Colburn led the OTC hitters from the plate going 4 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while teammate Jakob Bradsteen finished the day 3 for 3 with two RBI.

Fergus was led by Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton draftee Keith Seiling at the plate as he knocked in four RBI in a 2 for 3 day.

OTC will now move on as they take on Brandon-Evansville Saturday at 10 a.m. at American Legion Field in Fergus Falls.
