Pheasants Forever youth events planned [UPDATED]

The Otter Tail County Pheasants Forever club is hosting three free youth events at Viking Valley Hunt Club and Lakes Area Shooting.

The Youth Trap and Skeet Shoot is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Lakes Area Shooting for ages 12-17 with a firearms safety certificate. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Those who participated in the skeet shoot are eligible for the Youth Pheasant Hunt at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Viking Valley Hunt Club. Participants are provided with two birds, along with lunch and beverages.

The third event is the DNR Youth Mentor Hunt, at 11 a.m. on Sat, Oct. 20, at the Orwell Refuge south of Fergus Falls. Those who want to participate must apply for the lottery on the web site, www.mndnr.gov/discover.

A registration form is required for the Youth Trap and Skeet Shoot and the Youth Pheasant Hunt.
