Arlene Larson, 88, of Battle Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.races

Arlene Rose Mary Larson was born on July 27, 1924, in Golva, N.D., the daughter of George and Mollie (Keller) Erickson. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1942 and worked at a Fergus Falls bank for two years following graduation.

Arlene and Clarence Larson Jr. (“Bud”) were married on April 10, 1944, in Fergus Falls.

After marriage they lived on the Larson Century farm homestead where Arlene was a homemaker, the original bookkeeper for the Park Region Telephone Co., cooked for Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and the Battle Lake Dairy Queen, and drove school bus for Battle Lake School District for more than 20 years.

Arlene enjoyed baking, cards and game playing, and auto rides through the countryside. She was an excellent baker and was best known for her cinnamon rolls and brown molasses bread.

She was a 68-year member of Trefoldighed Lutheran Church in rural Battle Lake.

She is survived by five children; Larry (Barbara Taketa) Larson of Clitherall, Harvey (Rita) Larson of Beulah, N.D., Beth (Mark McGrath) Larson of Prior Lake, Wendy (Richard) Johnson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Julie Larson of Bloomington; a brother-in-law, Bill Maddox of St. Louis Park; a sister-in-law, Lucy Erickson of Rogers; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Christopher (Sara) Larson, Joanna, Manda and Lydia, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Jennifer (Keith) Kelley, Hannah and Samantha, of Enterprise, Ala.; Melissa (Dave) Shogren, Jackson and Mallory, of Inver Grove Heights; Angela Larson of St Paul, Renee and Annette Johnson of Albuquerque, N.M., Jordan Sour of St Louis Park, Allison (Ali Saad) Sour, Saja, and Hadi of Burnsville, Aaron Sour of Fargo, and by numerous friends and relatives.

Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 10 a.m., Saturday, at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake
