Casting call out for new RTC film

The call for movie extras has gone out again in the Fergus Falls area. With the horror film “The Control Group” preparing for a mid-August shooting start at the Regional Treatment Center, the film’s director and crew will be in town Friday night looking for local talent to fill out the movie’s minor roles.

“We’re looking for a variety of things, mostly just extras … (and) bit parts,” said director Peter Hurd.

The film will be holding a casting call at 6 p.m. Friday at the Fergus Falls Best Western. Those interested in being actors need only to show up, fill out a short contact form and read something for the filmmakers. Once you’re in with the filmmakers, said Hurd, the audition takes less than 10 minutes.

The film is looking for several actors. Time commitment is not an issue, Hurd noted. There are roles for people with busy schedules and for those who are able to set aside larger chunks of their lives.

“For some people it’s a couple of hours on one day,” he said. “It depends on their schedules and what we want them to do.”

The casting call will last until around 7:30 p.m. People interested in helping out the film off-camera are also invited to stop by and let the filmmakers know.

The film, which boasts horror mainstay Brad Dourif as one of its stars, is about a group of teens and evil scientists who must band together to escape a haunted insane asylum. Hurd has gotten a lot of interest from the community since “The Control Group” was announced.

The film’s tentative start date for shooting is Aug. 13.
